How can I protect my dental implants?

Types of Dental Implants
All-ceramic and metal-free holistic dental implants are the newest material being offered. Dr. Locante is one of few doctors that provides ceramic dental implants, also known as Zirconia implants. Although Zirconium is metal, we use the ceramic portion of it known as zirconia oxide. Therefore, there is no metal in the implant and creates a completely natural look.
Using zirconia oxide, we can create a metal-free implant, which offers numerous advantages for patients. If you suffer from metal allergies or sensitivities, these implants are non-metallic and biocompatible with bone. Because of this compatibility, the jawbone grows around the implant, making it firm and stable.
We offer same-day dental implants, also known as “Teeth Today,” an advanced technique involving the surgical placement of implants and the restorative tooth’s immediate placement. This is an easy, effective, and pain-free procedure. Dr. Locante and his staff are trained to administer all types of sedation dentistry services, and 99.9% of patients report no discomfort during the procedure.
The process starts with radiographs, potentially a CT scan, and software that creates an advanced surgical guide to precisely place the implants. Then, a laboratory technique allows the fabrication of restoration before the surgical placement. This highly-advanced technique requires a skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable surgeon, such as Dr. Locante, to perform these procedures. Instead of replacing just one tooth, some patients need a full set of uppers and lowers. In these cases, all-on-four dental implants can be installed in just one office visit.
This type of implant goes into your jawbone to make a replacement tooth that functions just like your natural teeth. You will generally get a cylinder implant, consisting of ceramic, polymeric, or titanium materials, or a blade, with an abutment to connect the crown. If your damaged tooth is still present, it will be removed first.
You will probably wait four to six weeks for the bone to grow around the implant. During this time, you can eat and drink like normal. When the healing process is complete, we install the abutment that attaches to your implant and secures your denture, crown, or bridge. We make endosteal dental implants so that they perfectly match the shape, color, and size of your surrounding teeth for an entirely natural appearance.
Subperiosteal dental implants are dental implants that consist of a metal framework and are mainly for patients who have bone loss in their jaw. Instead of going into your jaw, subperiosteal dental implants are a metal frame inserted in the thin layer of tissue between your gum and the bone. This implant is less common today because of advances made in bone grafting, designs, and imaging.
There are usually two surgery appointments for subperiosteal dental implants. The first appointment is where the dentist opens up your gums to expose the bone. First, we take an impression of the bone’s contours and shape to design the implant’s frame and struts. Your gums are then closed and opened up again, once healed, to place the implant against your jawbone. Once the implant is in your gums, your gums have to heal before you can get a permanent bridge. There is a significant dental implant complication rate for this procedure, so it is important to maintain proper oral hygiene.
